we e mailed members of the Keweenaw Peace Community and notified the media. An article appeared in The Daily Mining Gazette on Tuesday March 18. About 20 people came and we were very visible. a few negative responses, many positive from the cars passing by. The scary ones were those who couldn't acknowledge that we were there. It was very cold, uncomfortable wind chill but sunny. Gazette reporter took photos and did a skewed story which appeared Thursday 20 March in the Gazette. The web site has the story and photos. Our signs said "5 Years too many, fiscal fiasco, moral disaster," and some folks brought their own. The newspaper chose one that wasn't relevant! and made a big deal about protest . . . we will send web link and photos . . .
