After reading the great descriptions of events around the country, we felt we had to supply ours! After enjoying a bus ride talking with a conservative woman who was having heartfelt questions about Iraq and esp. GWB, we got off at the bus stop (near Lake Forest Park I5 exit) hoping to have at least 15 show up for the Walk For Peace. We have been standing in one place for over 5 years and had decided to have a special moving demonstration. Within 15 minutes 36 peace activists and friends including two Buddhist monks gathered, and the notorious Northwest weather was on our side. Positive responses were witnessed from all around the commercial district where we started the walk. We usually have 30-40 at our weekly vigils, but being 'on the move' energized us all. It was a 2-mile jaunt through the enclave of Lake Forest Park, just N of Seattle. Very colorful, with large and expressive signs-5 Years Too Many, drumming, and an invigorating spirit that is still inspiring us more than two weeks later! At the town center we strolled through a shopping area chanting "While you are shopping bombs are dropping." More walks are in the planning stage for throughout 2008 and beyond, because the Cause goes beyond Iraq to the World We Want and Need -- By:Colleen cma
We marched through damp and chilly Lake Forest Park WA to bring attention to Five Years Too Many. | ||||
