The event was organized by two groups: San Diego 9/11 Truth and SceneDiego.
We met up at the park and the organizers sprayed the number 15703 on all our T-shirts - this was the approximate number of Iraqi war dead that each of us represented. There was a total of about 100 demonstrators.
We all meandered in ones and twos over to the small plaza at 4th and Broadway, at the foot of the building that houses San Diego's NBC outlet, KNSD. The idea was for folks NOT to arrive all at once. As folks arrived at the location, we simply laid down on the ground in a 'dead' position.
One of the event organizers walked around the area with a bull-horn, speaking TRUTH about the war and the Bush administration.
At one point, KNSD sent a videographer out to tape the demonstration. He was NOT very professional - showing his dis-approval of the goings-on and even sneering at the person with the bull-horn by way of disagreeing with what she was saying.
Unfortunately, since this was a Saturday, there were not too many people on the street. However, the location is a major transit stop, so there were some folks.
One passer-by even joined us!
After a while, several of the event organizers went through the mass of 'dead' with chalk, making outlines of all the 'bodies'.
The demonstration lasted about half-an-hour.
Video and still photos to come.
