More than 1,000 people took action for peace in the streets of DC on Wednesday, March 19th, and the media covered it in the minimizing way that they usually do. :) By:Alexis Baden-Mayer
This was the most powerful and moving protest of the day. It was the best example of what weekday direct actions, as opposed to weekend mass marches, are all about. A handful of committed people create a stage and hold it, commanding attention with their courage and vivid message. This group, with their every-woman masks, black gowns and bloodied babies, said it all. We can't allow another life to be lost in this terrible war! By:Monique Frugier
On the 5th anniversary of Bush's illegal and shameful war in Iraq, the Media did what it usually does: minimize the protests if it is not pretending none of them happened.
I tried to attend as many events as I could from the protest in front of the Armed Forces Recruitment center, the Die In, the March of Veterans for Peace to the Freeze for Peace ( at the Union Station -in my opinion a must to be duplicated in every major city- the Code Pink, the March of The Dead and more.
The events of that day which monopolized the traffic and the police were seen by more people in the Capital than our previous marches since groups were in different locations with a main gathering site at McPherson Park. By:Nina Krstic
