We had a huge turn-out, with church groups, kids and teenagers, white-robed priestesses and a bagpipes player. One important feature of the event was the display of 138 pairs of boots from the Quakers' "Eyes Wide Open" memorial, representing the soldiers killed from LA and Orange Counties. We had music playing ("Blowing in the Wind" and "Where Have All the Flowers Gone?")and testimonials from last week-end's Winter Soldier conference. Everyone held candles and many carried peace signs and banners. The next day, a photo of the boot display made the front page of our very conservative local newspaper, the OC Register. | ||||
